This Adorable Bulldog Loves It When His Parents Do Gardening Work Because He Gets Holes He Can Take Naps In
Franklin, a bulldog from Alabama, found the perfect nap spot by accident, and his parents have been digging around it ever since. What started as a drainage project in the spring of 2021 turned into a running joke in the yard, because the second a hole appears, Franklin is ready to claim it.
Caitlin adopted Franklin in 2020, and he quickly became her constant sidekick while she worked from home. He loves the porch swing, pottery class, and any activity that lets him stay close to his family, especially if there is dirt involved.
Now the little bulldog has a whole network of favorite holes, and he is not giving them up anytime soon.
Franklin, the oddball bulldog, sure loves holes.

Just watch him enjoying himself:
Have you ever observed how, when a dog goes to sit or take a nap, it circles around a few times, scratches at the ground or floor, loops around a few more times, and then, after giving it some serious thought, sits?
That's because dogs carefully consider the best place before taking a nap. They ensure that their location is as comfy as it can be, and this activity is a natural aspect of their instinct.
When it comes to choosing the greatest place by the fire in the winter or the best lounge chair at the summer pool, people can be finicky. Your dog does the same, just using dirt.
Dogs will sit in a hole depending on the weather to either stay warm or cool. To keep its body cool on a hot summer day, it may dig a bit to uncover cooler earth.
Given that dogs do not sweat like humans do to stay cool, the cool, fresh earth feels good against their skin. Dogs primarily regulate their temperature through their paws and by breathing.
This “love language” is similar to the dog that turns its back on its owner while seated nearby.
He never misses a chance to take a nap in a hole.

Franklin has clearly decided that dirt is the comfiest bed in the yard.
Perhaps Franklin enjoys the coziness of hiding in a chilly hole. He nearly seems to blend in, which may be why he prefers this hidden vantage point.
Maybe he likes to imagine himself as a lovely gardenia that has just been planted. Caitlin believes that Franklin's primary objective is simply to participate and claim a unique space for himself.
Franklin's favorite location is somewhere he can be with his family. And what if the location has a hole in it?
Better still.
