There is something George Clooney knows that we don’t: pigs make amazing pets.

While many of us may not have experienced the love that pigs have to offer, 18 years with the same old critter shows that piggy love can be addictive. According to Dr. Michele Weiner-Davis, a renowned marriage therapist, “The bonds we form with our pets can be as strong as those we have with our closest family members.” Clooney has been described as having built a father-son relationship with his 300-pound companion. Although this unusual relationship put off some of his associates, Clooney wasn't prepared to give Max any less love than he was already receiving.

One time, his ex-girlfriend, Italian actress Elisabetta Canalis, stated that his loyalty to Max was the reason he was uninterested in marriage and having kids for a very long time. If that isn’t an unbreakable bond, we don’t know what is.

That’s not all; Clooney loved Max so much that he even allowed him to sleep in his bed. Additionally, Clooney was said to have taken Max on a trip in John Travolta's private jet — how cool is that?

Unfortunately, their unbreakable bond was broken when Max passed away peacefully due to natural causes at the age of 19. We can’t imagine how hurt that must have made Clooney.

However, we are glad that decades later, Max still lives on in the fantastic pictures he took with the actor.

Like George Clooney, many other celebrities have kept peculiar pets. Kirstie Alley has 14 lemurs, Elvis Presley owned a chimp named Scatter, Tori Spelling had a pet chicken, and Michael Jackson had a pet chimp named Bubbles.

We can’t reasonably guess their choosing formula, but we do know that George Clooney chose the right peculiar pet for himself. Max may have lived for only 19 years (which is amazing for a pig), but we doubt Clooney will ever be able to replace such an iconic companion.
