Hawk Is Utterly Confused By This Plastic Duck
Some wildlife moments are funny because the animal is absolutely sure it has found a meal, until reality steps in. That is exactly what happens in this clip, where a hawk spots what looks like an easy duck dinner and goes in with confidence.
Instead of prey, the bird finds a plastic lawn ornament, and the whole encounter turns into a long stretch of pacing, pecking, and confusion. Shared by YouTube user Garybob, the footage shows the hawk trying to make sense of a duck that refuses to act like a duck.
By the end, the only thing the hawk seems to have learned is that this lunch is not going anywhere.
Wild animals are sometimes adorable when confronted with plastic animals

And this hawk was totally confused about this duck lawn ornament

Hawks are apex predators, and they often target ducks. He swiftly paces toward the duck and attacks but sees that the figurine isn’t moving. The predator starts walking, trying to claw at it several times, all the while looking around to spot other predators. The “attack” lasted two minutes. The hawk tried everything, pacing, threatening, clawing, and attacking, but nothing worked. The plastic duck just wouldn’t budge.

Finally, when the hawk’s patience ran out, he decided to fly away. The taste of plastic simply wasn’t to his liking. The video became very popular, garnering more than 1.8 million views and 29,000 likes on YouTube.
That “wait, what just happened?” energy matches the owl that snatched a child’s stick horse toy.

Encounters like these are not uncommon. Steve Grimme posted a video of a hawk being confused by a plastic rabbit on Facebook. The reaction was very similar: a lot of exploring and encircling, sporadic attacks, and the adorable, confused look every time the rabbit doesn’t react.
He thought he was hunting, then a bear selfie session on his found GoPro left him speechless, watch it here.
