The Corgi breed of dog has been around for a very long time. In fact, the first recorded lineage of corgis goes as far back as 1107 AD!

Today, if you wanted to acquire a Corgi for your family you could pay anywhere from $600 to $2,000 (it varies by the "quality" of the breed.) For an impressive chunk of change, this pawsitively adorable breed of doggo could be yours for 12-15 years (as that's how long they live on average.)

According to Facts.Net:

"Since 1934, the world has recognized two different corgi breeds. It’s generally believed that Flemish weavers introduced the Pembroke Corgi to Wales in 1107 AD. Eventually, the Cardigan corgi evolved as a rarer variant of the breed, which makes them more expensive to this day."

However, the Pembroke Welch Corgi is "more popular" these days. Even Queen Elizabeth II is famous for her affectionate feelings towards Pembroke Welch Corgi Dogs!

Corgi dogs are favored in pop culture and meme culture for a variety of reasons, but one of the top ones is definitely their adorable butts which look like hearts or upside-down peaches to many of their fans. While the origins of tail docking go back to early Romans who believed docking a dog's tail removed rabies, Corgis are still usually having their tails docked today, too.
