Max The Cat Was Banned From The Library And The Internet Hilariously Demands Answers
Max the cat has become an unlikely internet celebrity, and all it took was one library ban to set everything off. A photo of a sign telling visitors not to let him inside has been bouncing around Facebook, Reddit, Imgur, and everywhere else people love a good cat mystery.
The situation is simple on paper, Max wants into the library, but the library and his owner agree he should stay out. That has only made people more curious, because now everyone wants to know what this sweet-looking cat did to earn such a dramatic response.
Whatever the answer is, the internet is already treating Max like a legend. And the questions are only getting louder.
The post that started it all...
Mischievous Max sparks an Internet uproar!
As it turns out, there is a wild story behind Max, and we are eagerly chomping at the details.
This is Max.
Isn't he adorable? We think so.
Max enjoys his outdoor freedom.
He roams free and wild, enjoying the spoils of the neighborhood. He's a bit of a rebel, not tamed solely by the ability to roll in the grass and bask in direct sunlight. Max seeks the comfort of the local library.
But his entertainment time in the Minnesota library was apparently not welcome.
He has wandered in multiple times and has even been CAUGHT on camera, leading to his subsequent public ban!
That is where the internet started treating this like a full investigation.
However, this hasn't stunted Max.
Now, he has found fame like many rebels before him.
And it all began with a tweet.
Like many other instances of Internet fame, a single tweet set the rolling ball in motion, gaining momentum as the photo spread far and wide.
Naturally, someone responded.
By beginning Max's story with an eloquent poem on Twitter.
Part 2 of 3
Part 3 of 3
This was not enough.
The Internet began to demand answers.
And photos.
First of all, because cats. Second of all, Max the cat.
The people demand answers!
In the name of Max!
Macalester College Library employees tried desperately to satiate the public's cries and respond as eloquently as possible.
They provided a glimpse of him.
They explained what he does at the library.
And they hilariously answered the age-old question:
Does Max have a library card?!
People were not done with Max yet.
Max may be banned, but it’s nothing like the shelter dog who never stops greeting visitors despite nine years of rejection.
Someone made him a library card.
Which, by the way, is the cutest thing ever.
In fact, more than one person tried to help Max with a library card.
How could they say no to this!?
Others tried more nefarious plots
Like bribing.
The way most advocacy gets started:
Petitions.
And my personal favorite:
An entire Max section.
And others decided they would be the rebels Max inspired them to be.
They had one plan
A solid plan, technically.
It's like a compulsive need at this point.
"You can't STOP me!"
Roberto has a point.
Oh, Max.
The days are long without the library, aren't they?
If you ask me, one of the best parts is how many public figures began to get involved.
Like Senator Jack Reed
He's got the support of the government.
And Gypsy is a huge fan.
We love this.
And we are left wondering what is next for dear old Max?
Because clearly, Max has a fanbase.
And there are a lot of talented artists in his fan base...
But Max has friends at the library, too.
And obviously, Max's owner is trying to find ways to make it work.
In lieu of the library, a local bookstore wants to let Max in.
So his owner is leash training him so they can go on adventures together!
And one thing is for sure:
Max is one loved cat, worldwide!
Max may be banned from the library, but the internet has clearly adopted him.
After Max’s library ban, you’ll love the “crime cats” subreddit treating 46 heists like TV.
