We Tried Out The Litter Robot, And This Is What We Thought

Recently, we had the chance to try out the Litter Robot, a futuristic cat litter box that cleans itself. I had seen it in videos on the internet before, and it definitely looked like an interesting device. I mean, if something can take care of cleaning up after the cats, I'm all ears.

We unboxed it and were presented with something that looked like a spaceship. Really, it looks pretty crazy.

Read on to find out how it takes cat ownership to a new level.

The setup already makes a strong first impression.

After the cat comes in and uses the Litter Robot (exactly like they would a normal litter box), the Litter Robot starts rotating, and all of the cat litter inside falls through a grate into a reservoir. From here, the Litter Robot has separated the cat's business and now automatically dumps it into a secure plastic bag at the bottom of the Litter Robot. It then does a further rotation and returns to its initial position.

Then, it's ready for the next cat. It was really that simple. The only real intervention required is to empty out the bag at the bottom, as recommended around once per week, or depending on how many cats you have.

Simply take it out, throw it away, and replace it with a new bag. Instead of having to clean up after the cat every single time, multiple times per day, it's now a simple and clean process, just once per week (roughly). It even has an indicator light to tell you when it's ready to be emptied, so you don't need to go in and check to see if it's full.

One of the main things we noticed was the reduction in odor. The Litter Robot uses carbon filtering to minimize the amount of odor. That, coupled with the fact that it cleans itself immediately after the cat leaves, results in far less odor than using a normal litter box. In fact, in our testing, there was no odor at all. Definitely cleaner!

After the initial cost outlay, this device will save money over the long term because it is very effective at separating the cat's business from the litter and conserving as much litter as possible. I don't know about you, but it's easy to waste too much litter if you're having to clean a cat's litter box manually.

Overall, this is definitely a useful device, especially for people with multiple cats. As cat owners know, many cats like to have their litter box fully cleaned before use, and with multiple cats, that can get tricky. However, we found that the Litter Robot resolves this problem. Because it was cleaning up automatically right away, there was always fresh litter for the cats whenever they needed it.

This also hits like a husband trying to get rid of his wife’s cat over house-soiling.

That convenience is the whole appeal here.
