Man Got a Tattoo That He Saw on a Dog He Rescued, But Only After Sharing It Online Did He Find Out It Means 'Neutered'
Chris Mendiola thought he was honoring a rescued dog in the most permanent way possible, but the internet had other ideas. A tattoo he copied from the pup’s body turned out to mean something far more ordinary than he expected, and the reveal made the whole story instantly awkward.
After rescuing a dog in Texas, Mendiola noticed a symbol on the animal and assumed it had been left by abusive former owners. Wanting to show support, he got the same mark tattooed on his upper arm, only to later learn that the symbol was not a cruel message at all.
Now the tattoo has become a very public punchline, and the explanation only made people more curious.
This is Bear

The Mark Made Chris Angry.

What Is That Symbol?

Bad, Bad Research...

It turns out that it is a pretty common tattoo and simply means that the dog is neutered.
This is similar to the woman who got an adorable dog memorial tattoo, after losing the dog she loved most.
That is where the story really takes a turn.
Well, No Use Crying Now. At Least It Is a Funny Story.

Mendiola says that he knew what the tattoo represented all along: "We talked to our vet about the tattoo. I knew what it meant." However, the internet is not convinced.
Chris said, "I get to carry my dog with me everywhere I go." He added, "I can just look down and know I have a part of him with me at all times."
"A lot of people are saying, 'I'd do anything for my pet,' but would you?" he asked. "Would you get a neutered sign tattooed on your bicep?"

Now the internet gets to decide whether this was devotion or a very expensive misunderstanding.
Chris thought the tattoo was a win, but wait until you read what his sister told him about his dog’s death.
