Man Uses His Time in Quarantine to Build a Miniature Restaurant for Wild Animals in His Front Yard
James Vreeland turned quarantine boredom into something the neighborhood wildlife could not ignore. From his front yard in Detroit, he built a tiny restaurant for squirrels and birds, complete with a menu and a surprisingly polished setup.
The project, called Maison du Noix, gave local animals a place to snack while giving passersby something unusual to stop and stare at. What started as a creative way to fill extra time quickly became a small backyard attraction.
And once the photos started spreading, the little restaurant got even more attention than its owner probably expected.

This new and popular restaurant has a fancy French name, “Maison du Noix,” which means “The Nut House.”
“We’ve been offering an opening course of a seed medley, followed by peanuts in the shell, house-cut breadsticks, and a dessert of counter-softened apples,” the restaurant owner and manager James Vreeland told reporters.
In the picture below, you can see the cozy entry to the Maison de Noix, which features a miniature stall and a menu. The local wildlife enjoys the options included on the menu. “The squirrels and blue jays have been loving it,” he added.
The tiny lunch counter was constructed by James Vreeland, an animal lover from Detroit.

He crafted little seats and tables, a bordering fence, and a welcoming entrance.

The menu of “The Nut House” has several interesting options:

This miniature restaurant offers several meal options: mixed seed trio, stale bread/pizza crust, raw peanuts, and even counter-softened apples. The restaurant owner reveals that business is booming, but it isn’t exactly generating any profit.
“The response from humans has been pretty great, with people stopping all the time to take photos or watch the frenzy,” James Vreeland told reporters.
