Here is an interesting trivia. Most people think monkeys and apes are the same and use the terms interchangeably, but they are not.
They are both members of the primate group but belong to different species. So how can you distinguish them? Well, it’s the tail.
Almost all monkeys have tails; apes do not. Their bodies are different in other ways, too: monkeys are usually smaller and narrow-chested, while apes are larger and have broad chests and shoulder joints that allow them to swing through trees (some monkeys also have this ability, but most are built for running across branches rather than swinging).
