People Can't Stop Talking About This Adorable Kitten That Interrupted A Live News Broadcast
One quiet afternoon in Washtenaw County turned into a local news moment people still talk about. ABC affiliate WXYZ Channel 7 was on the air when a tiny orange tabby wandered into the frame and made herself impossible to ignore.
Reporter Nima Shaffe was covering his story when the stray kitten kept meowing and pulling attention away from the broadcast. He stopped to pick her up, and the sweet interruption quickly became the real headline.
By the time the cameras kept rolling, the kitten had already won over everyone nearby. Read on.
To escort the kitten to the Humane Society of Huron Valley, the sheriff's department stopped by and couldn't resist the opportunity for a quick photo!

Shaffe said:
We've just been hanging out, and she’s kind of taken off. She’s quite a big hit on social media this morning. We’ve got alley cats that watch us, house cats that watch us, and now we have parking lot cats. I had to talk the sheriff out of ticketing her. The charge would have been loitering.

This looks like the kitten whose head got stuck in a truck frame.
The kitten earned the name "Lucky Seven," and the Humane Society determined she was approximately six weeks old. At less than 2 pounds and at that tender age, she wasn't quite ready to be adopted out. Wendy Welch, the humane society’s marketing director, explained to ABC News:
She’ll probably be ready sometime in mid-July. She’s too little right now. She’s a little purr-monster.

Welch added:
She’s already received some medication, de-wormer, and she’s going to spend some time in foster care. We have a team of loving volunteers that participate in our foster care program so she can go home with someone for that TLC as she gets bigger.

While Welch noted that the Humane Society has no shortage of kittens and cats up for adoption, Lucky Seven was certainly special. She said, with a smile, "This is definitely the one that’s gotten the most attention lately."
