Centaur, The Stray Dog Still Prefers Chilling Out In His Beloved Bucket Over His Own Kiddie Pool
Centaur, a stray dog with a big personality, has turned an ordinary shelter bucket into his favorite hangout spot. The 4-year-old pup arrived at the Austin Animal Center on St. Patrick’s Day, and staff quickly learned that he had a very specific idea of comfort.
When the Texas heat picked up in early May, the shelter tried giving him a kiddie pool of his own. Centaur did enjoy it, but not enough to give up the bucket that started it all, and that made his story even more charming.
Now the shelter is hoping the goofy little guy finds a forever home that appreciates his quirks, bucket and all.
Centaur first discovered his beloved bucket in early May

They got the pool for Centaur, but he still gravitated toward his beloved bucket. After all, it was the perfect size for him.
The quirky dog came to the shelter as a stray on Saint Patrick's Day

The Austin Animal Center went to Facebook to update the community, saying:
"When we posted about Centaur a few weeks ago, some of you (reasonably) suggested getting him a pool. Well, it turns out Centaur is a certified weirdo... come get yourself a dog with personality!"
After a month, Centaur has finally gotten used to his kiddie pool, and no, he didn’t totally abandon his dear bucket. He actually shares his time equally between the kiddie pool and his beloved bucket.
They got Centaur his very own kiddie pool

Cler equally shares that he totally adores the pool now. "He especially likes to bob for treats in the pool and, of course, roll in the dirt once he gets out," she added.
"[But] he still likes to go in the bucket even with a pool available."
Even with the pool available, Centaur still gravitated to his bucket

Cler says he is searching for a family that will take him on adventures. "He may be a bit much for little kiddos just due to his energy level and bounciness. Whoever adopts him will seriously get the silliest, goofiest boy!" she added.
Centaur has finally warmed up to his kiddie pool

Centaur is truly a happy and lucky dog, and despite his charms, he hasn’t figured out how to find his forever family. The staff at the shelter are hoping that the right match will appear soon and give Centaur a permanent home to settle down in.
Not just that, but one that will give him a forever pool that he so richly deserves.
That bucket may be hard to beat.
