Rescued Dog Lived With Excruciating Pain For Way Too Many Years Until Someone Finally Noticed
Buddy’s rescue story starts with a painful surprise that no one saw coming. He was pulled from a county shelter by Friends of Strays after being marked for euthanasia because of his age and heartworms, but a much bigger problem was hiding in his mouth.
During a routine dental visit, the team discovered a stick lodged in the roof of his mouth, and it had apparently been there for years. That meant Buddy had been living with constant pain for far too long, without anyone realizing what was wrong.
Now his story has a much happier turn, and the details of how he finally got help are hard to forget.
Poor Buddy Boy!
Upon being adopted by Friends of Strays, Buddy was destined for a teeth cleaning. And thank goodness he was!
That routine visit ended up revealing the real problem.
That Looks So Incredibly Painful!!
Her estimated guess of how long it had been there?
Three or four YEARS.
If only you could see all the cringeworthy facial expressions on my face!
That kind of pain had been hiding in plain sight.
Since it had been there for so long-nearly half his life-it severely damaged two of his teeth.
The damage was bad enough that both teeth had to be removed.
It’s hard not to think about the airport bathroom dog with a note from his owner after escaping abuse.
Fortunately for Buddy, he spent most of December in a foster home that just so happened to turn into his forever home with Misti Tate and her son!
They were ready for a dog who had already made it through the puppy stage.
She also finalized the adoption on the day of his vet visit. When asked about his demeanor despite his difficult life, Tate gushed-
He was calm, sweet, and barely barked at all.
We’re grateful to have him and just glad we could take him home.
Clearly, their family is ecstatic to have him, and his past has no bearing on his future. Finally, Buddy, you'll get to experience the life you truly deserve!
