Stray Cat Adopted After An Intense Battle Convincing A Landlord
Some cats arrive at a shelter with a rough past, and Mister Bruce Willis had one of the hardest. The stray cat was so worn down by life on the streets that people called him the saddest cat, and his health made the nickname feel painfully accurate.
But this story is not just about a sick cat getting a second chance. It is also about Sandra, the woman who kept visiting him even though her lease did not allow pets, then had to convince her landlord to make an exception before she could bring him home.
What started as a heartbreaking shelter visit turned into a full-on rescue mission, and Mister Willis did not stay sad for long.
A Sad Cat
The poor kitty didn't choose his fate, and despite his rough appearance, he was and still is the sweetest and most affectionate boy around. All that was missing in his life was a loving family to call his own. As soon as Sandra saw an International Cat Day post made by the Animal Humane Society in Minnesota about Mister Willis, her heart dropped.

She never intended to adopt a furry friend, and even if she had wanted to, her lease forbade it. However, she felt a strong connection to this cat and kept visiting him regularly at the shelter, hoping that one day he would find his human. One month later, she somehow managed to convince her landlord to make an exception for Mister Willis because he deserved a loving home.

A year later, the orange tabby is now completely unrecognizable after spending a year with Sandra. The saddest cat has magically transformed into the happiest cat and has even amassed 94.4k followers on Instagram.

Sandra first saw Mister Willis in a post from the Animal Humane Society in Minnesota, and his eyes immediately stood out to her. She knew she could not adopt him right away because her lease did not allow pets, but she still went to visit him anyway.
That first visit made the situation even harder to ignore.
In person, he looked even sadder, and Sandra said she kept returning because she could not stop thinking about him. Mister Willis was FIV positive and had picked up an upper respiratory infection at the shelter, which left him sick for a while. Week after week, he was still there.

Eventually, Sandra asked her landlord for permission to adopt him, and she was surprised when she got an exception. She brought him home the next day.
That was the turning point.
He went from being the saddest cat to the happiest cat she had seen in just a few hours. He purred all night long and would not leave her side.

Mister Willis is FIV positive, which means he has a weaker immune system than most cats. When Sandra first got him, he had a cold, an ear infection, and an eye infection he had caught at the shelter.
He had a rough start, but he pulled through.
It was harder for him to fight off the infections, but he eventually did, and now Sandra says she cannot notice his condition at all. She is just making sure she does what she can to keep him happy and healthy.

Sandra has had him for a year now, and they have had their ups and downs. He was very sick for a while, and they had to go to the vet frequently.
Now the story sounds a lot happier.
Luckily, he was able to fight off all the infections, and today he is a happy and healthy cat.
