This Cat Paw-ssibly Has The Nicest Smile You'll See Today
Rey the rescue cat has a smile that seems almost too perfect to be real, and that is exactly why people keep falling for her. After a rough day, her owner Jenni stopped by a local shelter, where Rey climbed into her lap, meowed, and looked up with that unforgettable face.
From there, the little ginger cat became a family favorite and an online favorite too, with thousands of people charmed by her permanent-looking grin. Her story is simple, sweet, and just a little bit funny, which makes the rest of her photos even harder to resist.
Here is the full story.
Rey was a rescue cat who had been found as a stray in an alleyway.
In an interview with ABC News Today, Jenni says that they "like to think she's the anti-Grumpy Cat, his self-proclaimed arch-nemesis!"
That nickname fits her perfectly.
Rey may be the anti-Grumpy Cat, but Merlin still “looks angry” no matter how you try.
She's not all smiles, though! Rey can be just as grumpy as the rest of us in the morning. Once she's properly woken up, she's ready to play all day!
Rey is, of course, named after the heroine in the new Star Wars films.
Jenni said she let Aaron name Rey to prevent him from being upset that she brought home another cat! Though how anyone could be mad when a happy, smiling cat is involved is beyond me!
Aaron, a massive Star Wars fan, named the newest addition to their family in honor of the character in his much-beloved films.
They even got Rey a BB-8 toy, which she loves to play with!
The name choice made the whole thing even more adorable.
Jenni says that Rey knows just how cute she is and loves posing for the camera, which allows her to get away with lots of mischief. According to Dr. John Gottman, a renowned marriage researcher, "Pets can bring immense joy and companionship, often enhancing our emotional well-being." You can keep up with Rey's adventures and see plenty of pictures and videos of the smiling cat at Dr. John Gottman's professional website.
Rey’s anti-Grumpy Cat energy is sweet, but meet Melissa’s “Einstein” grumpiness too.
