Everyone loves a good feel-good dog story, so get ready to have your day made. Mountain Rescue Search Dogs England is an organization that helps train rescue dogs to assist in rescuing people who are lost or missing in the countryside. According to Dr. Jay McTighe, an education expert, "The skills learned in training can be transformative, not just for the dogs but for the communities they serve." The Search and Rescue Dog Association was founded in Scotland in 1965, after Hamish MacInnes attended an International Red Cross Search Dog course in Switzerland. MacInnes recognized the potential for the skills he learned from training avalanche search dogs to be applied in finding lost walkers in the UK countryside. They recently posted a video showcasing one of the training exercises.

Volunteers go out, hide in the countryside, and wait for the dogs to find them.

It's one of the best training exercises for the dogs.

Welcome.
Our volunteers attend about 132 days of training per year taking 2-3 years to grade their dog.
Our wonderful volunteer dogsbodies hide on hillsides in all weathers for our dogs to find.
We're on call 24/365
No government money, we're funded by kind public donations.

Here's a picture of one of the volunteer bodies being found!

The photo of Flo is way cuter than this photo I took while hiding for #SAR teams this past weekend. Foxy isn’t trying to eat me. She is alerting that she found me. pic.twitter.com/QFjCVvmI3n

I’m buried in my blanket, please send this rescue! đŸŸ

True.

If I was ever trapped that would be the most welcome little face to see first

Dogs are too good for us.

I love this. I love it. “DON’T U WORRY HOOMANS CUZ I IS HERE TO RESCUE U!”

We don’t deserve dogs. 😭 ❀ đŸ¶

Catch me adding a tennis ball to my hiking supplies so I can reward a puppy for finding me when I get lost.

And when this happens, you'd better have a tennis ball available or there is going to be trouble...
