Trucker Has Emotional Reaction After Reuniting With His Lost Cat After Months of Searching
Matthew B. thought he had already lost the best travel companion he could ask for. The Texas truck driver and his three-year-old cat, Ashes, were inseparable, and the pair spent their days crossing the country together in Matthew’s 18-wheeler.
Then, during a trip through Springfield, Ohio, Ashes got spooked in unfamiliar surroundings and slipped out of the truck. Matthew searched for months and even kept rerouting his drives back to the same spot, hoping for one more chance to find him.
Just when it seemed like the trail had gone cold, a stranger in New York spotted something unexpected, and the reunion that followed was pure relief.
For two months, Matthew rearranged his routes so that he could return to the spot in Ohio where Ashes was last seen. Unfortunately, the cat could not be found.

Just when Matthew had almost lost hope, a kind lady named Kimberly noticed Ashes trying to get a stranger's attention. "He was trying not to put his feet down on the ground; it was so cold," she said. Kimberly took Ashes into her car and brought him to the animal rescue organization, Lollypop Farm.

Fortunately, Ashes was microchipped, which enabled him to be linked back to Matthew, even though he was 1,465 miles away from home.

"Our Admissions Team immediately scanned for a microchip, as they do with all incoming pets. Not only did he have one, but he also had an owner who had registered him under a Texas address that was over 1,465 miles away! This was one cross-country kitty," said the organization.

Matthew burst into tears of relief as he hugged Ashes. He called it his "Christmas miracle."

That reunion hit hard.
