Couple Brings Forward Wedding Date So Their Dog With Cancer Can Attend
Estelle and Danny were looking forward to a spring wedding in the UK, until their plans changed for one heartbreaking reason. Their five-year-old Bullmastiff, Brucie, was diagnosed with an aggressive cancer after being rushed to the hospital in December, and vets warned he might not make it to May.
That left the couple facing a painful choice, keep the wedding date they had planned, or bring it forward so Brucie could be there. They chose the second option, even though it meant losing their venue deposit, changing caterers, and asking guests to rearrange at short notice.
Brucie made it to the big day in a tuxedo, and the photos say everything.
“Every day my heart is broken because he's dying and there's nothing I can do about it, except love him and make memories,” Estelle said.

“Our beautiful boy had to be there,” she later wrote in a Facebook post.

The couple forfeited the large deposit they had paid for their wedding venue and rescheduled their entire wedding to just three weeks after Brucie's diagnosis.
Despite having to sacrifice their dream wedding venue, the caterers they had already paid for, and many guests who were unable to attend on such short notice, for Estelle, it was well and truly worth it.
That decision changed everything.
This is similar to the owner who wheelbarrowed her dying dog to his favorite place one last time.
“Having Brucie there with me on the day was the most important thing, which is why we changed it,” she said.

“I think some people believe we are crazy for changing it, as some see him as just a dog, but to me, he's a lot, lot more.”

Estelle and Danny were married in January, with their beloved Brucie wearing a special tuxedo and starring front and center in their beautiful wedding photos.
“I think Brucie really enjoyed the day. He came to the evening party for an hour but got too tired, so he had to go home to rest after his busy day of fuss,” Estelle said.
Two months after Brucie's diagnosis, Estelle and Danny are doing everything they can to ensure Brucie has the very best life possible for his final months.
“I love him more than anything.”
Brucie got his day, and the couple got their wedding with him in it.
