Dog Owner Who Bit A Jogger Says She Was Protecting Her Pets
Alma Cadwalader says she was trying to protect her dogs when a street encounter turned violent and landed her in trouble. The nineteen-year-old Oakland dog owner went viral after biting a jogger on the arm, and the arrest that followed only made the story more complicated.
Cadwalader claims the jogger was pepper-spraying her pets without cause, and that she stepped in to stop the harm. Her side of the story has kept people arguing over what really happened in those few chaotic moments.
Now the question is whether she was defending her dogs, or crossing a line.
It also echoes the park run clash where the dog owner blamed the runner for a missing pet.
Cadwalader's attorney, Emily L. Dahm, wants to provide additional clarification regarding the events that transpired on January 3rd on the Goldenrod Trail between Chabot Equestrian Centre and Oakland City Stables.
Dahm stated that Cadwalader was walking her dogs in the designated off-leash area. The dogs, Pouya, a shepherd/husky cross, and Otto, a dark lab mix, both six years old, ran over to the jogger as she approached them to greet her. Contrary to what other reports have stated, Dahm said that the dogs did not attack or bark at the jogger, nor did they act hostile in any way.
"I think she assumed incorrectly that the dogs were a threat to her and were going to attack her," Dahm explained.
"For whatever reason, she thought it was necessary to pepper-spray the dogs. I can’t see any reason, for the life of me, why that would be necessary under the circumstances," she added.

Dahm went on to say that Cadwalader yelled at the jogger to stop, but she didn't.
"My client tried to grab the pepper spray, and that is when the jogger grabbed my client by the hair and started kneeing her, kicking her in the groin," Dahm said. "When she had my client’s hair in her fist and wouldn’t let go, my client bit her arm to get her to release."
Cadwalader is not seeking revenge against the jogger; she only wants to clear her name. She has not been charged with a crime while prosecutors are considering the case.
Most importantly, the dogs had their eyes flushed out and did not require veterinary care.

Wait until you hear how the woman used a taser sound, and the owner snapped back.
