30 Uplifting And Wholesome Stories That Will Have You Feeling Great Despite Everything Going On
It’s difficult to stay positive when the environment around us is so gloomy. As Dr. Susan David, an emotional agility expert, states, “Emotions are data, not directives,” reminding us that while we may feel overwhelmed, we can choose how to respond to those feelings. The political and personal issues we face can be all-consuming, often leaving us stressed and hopeless.
In recent years, our lives have changed dramatically. The pandemic, for instance, forced us to confront an uncertain future, as noted by Dr. Brené Brown, a vulnerability researcher, who emphasizes that “vulnerability is the birthplace of innovation, creativity, and change.”
Many individuals have struggled to let go of negativity, as it isn’t as simple as it sounds. Everyone has their own small routines that help them escape the negative messages life sometimes throws our way. This can be as simple as taking a relaxing walk in the park, enjoying a drink, or scrolling through social media in search of uplifting content.
In this context, positive accounts on social media can play a significant role. For instance, Dr. Laurie Santos, a psychology professor, suggests that “finding joy in small moments can significantly improve our overall well-being.”
We’ve gathered some uplifting stories that can brighten your mood, so keep scrolling and enjoy.

"I am praying this reaches this young man's parents!!! Tonight, as I was leaving football practice with my three kiddos, my 4-year-old was so tired he started crying and acting a fool as we were getting in the van. My 7-year-old daughter started crying because I told her we were having red potatoes as a side for dinner, and clearly, she wasn’t a fan, so I threw my hands up and said, 'FORGET it - McDonald’s tonight!!' We go through the drive-thru, order food, and all three kids are now crying for one reason or another. I go to pay - I LEFT MY PURSE AT HOME. Welp, now I wanted to cry. I look at the young man with tears in my eyes, just from being stressed and annoyed, and say, 'Hun, I am so sorry, but I have to cancel that order. I left my purse at home when we went to football tonight.' WITHOUT HESITATION, he takes out his wallet and swipes his card before I could even say, 'No, I will be right back!' I was like, 'Wait, no, hun, it’s okay, I will come back through.' Then he replies, 'No, it’s totally fine, my pleasure.' I snapped a quick picture and asked his name, to which he replied, 'Wyatt, ma’am.' I told him I would be right back with cash for him, and he tried hard to talk me out of it. I just want his parents to know how KIND & COMPASSIONATE your son was tonight! He made this stressed-out momma pause for a moment and realize this is exactly what we parents are trying to do: raise great humans. Well, Wyatt, sir, you are an amazing human!!! I went back and handed him cash and had to make him take it because he didn’t want to take more than he had paid, but I wanted him to know that when you put good out into the world, it comes back to you tenfold! Wyatt, do not let this world change your kind heart, young man, for it’s people like YOU that will change this world for the better!"

"So today, this little boy came into the store and asked me, 'Where do you guys have the cheapest shoes?' So I showed him where they are. I asked him if these were for school. He said yes. I looked at his feet and saw that the shoes he was wearing were destroyed. Literally, they were breaking apart. I asked him if he wore those for the first day of school, and he said yes. He told me in a low voice a story, and that broke my heart. I told him, 'Don't worry. Pick any shoe you like.' He said, 'Why? I'm not gonna have the money.' I told him, 'Don't worry, I'll buy them for you.' He was like, 'Really?!!' I said, 'Yeah, of course.' He got his favorite shoes, and I told him to make me a promise: to get good grades and be good in school. He said he promises. He kept telling me this is unreal and couldn't believe it was happening. So my new buddy walked out of Finish Line with a brand new pair of shoes for the school year. Nothing makes me happier than seeing someone with a smile on their face. Helping people is the best gift God has given me. Have a good school year. Bless up."

"Meet Satchel. He is the only employee here at Homewood Suites in Beaumont. The access road is underwater, and I-10 is shut down due to flooding. We can’t get in or go out. The hotel a mile from us is underwater. Satchel has been here all night. His coworkers couldn’t make it to work, so he stayed. He has manned the phones, answered each of our questions, ensured that we have had a hot cup of coffee or tea, and helped serve us a hot breakfast. He has handled this situation with grace, kindness, and a beautiful smile on his face. Sometimes we ask ourselves why God allows things to happen, but we are not designed to understand His ways. I do think that sometimes He allows things to happen so we can be His light and share the love of Christ with others. I have seen a big teddy bear of a man washing dishes and serving eggs, a little grandmother wiping down tables, and a man drenched from head to toe because he crossed I-10 to deliver bottles of water to truck drivers who have been stranded on I-10. We saw a helicopter land at the hotel adjacent to us where the parking lot is underwater. Someone had to be flown out. I’m looking at my table and see a leftover bagel from breakfast, my hot cup of tea, my cozy socks, and dry tennis shoes. I am thankful for each of these things and for the peace in knowing that my family is safe and sound. Please pray for us and that we can each make it home safely to our families. If you know Satchel, tell him he is our hero! He gave me permission to share his picture. What an example of how to handle yourself in a crisis! Goodness gracious! I will stay here next time just knowing that despite whatever happens, I will have someone putting our needs above his own. Thank you, Satchel, for taking care of us here at Homewood in Beaumont. 😊"

"So I'm at the mall, and a little boy comes into CHAMPS asking about basketball shoes and if they have any under $75. The worker said no, and the little boy's face DROPS. So I ask the boy his name and what he needs shoes for. Turns out he's on a basketball team and is dying for new shoes, so I told him if he sends me a picture of him at his game, I'll buy him whatever he wants, and his dad damn near breaks down. YOU ARE VERY WELCOME, JORDAN! ENJOY YOUR NEW LEBRONS AND GOOD LUCK! ♥"
