This Comic About Dogs in War Will Bring You to Your Knees
Brutus and Pixie are a cartoon duo with a surprisingly big emotional punch. Created by Minnesota artist Ben Hed, the pair has won over readers with a mix of sweetness, loyalty, and quiet heartbreak.
Pixie is an innocent kitten who does not always understand the danger around her, while Brutus is a retired military working dog who has seen far more than he wants to remember. In this comic, Pixie asks him about war, and Brutus tries to protect her from the truth.
That contrast is what makes the strip hit so hard, and it is exactly why so many people keep coming back to these characters.
Brutus and Pixie Were Adopted by the Same Human

This adorable war story hits different, like the puppy tied to a pole and left to die, until rescuers stepped in.

Though Pixie deserves a little more explanation so she doesn't get the completely wrong idea, this comic is adorable. You can find more of Pixie and Brutus, as well as other pet comics, on Gretchen Rubin.
