Batman The Cat With Four Ears Finds a Furrever Home

Batman was never going to blend in at the shelter. The young black cat had a rare look, a sweet personality, and a story that made people stop and stare.

Born with two sets of ears because of a genetic mutation, Batman was taken in by the Western Pennsylvania Society after his family could no longer care for him. He spent a few weeks being treated for a respiratory infection, then quickly became ready for adoption, and it did not take long for someone to fall in love with him.

Now this four-eared cat has a new home, and his next chapter looks a lot brighter.

Luckily Batman isn't just any normal black cat.

Due to a genetic mutation, Batman was born with two sets of ears: one set in front and one set behind. The managing director of the Western Pennsylvania Society had never seen anything like Batman before, but after taking a few weeks to treat him for a respiratory infection, they were more than ready to find him a loving home. And they did just that! This super cuddly and loving cat found a new home only hours after being put up for adoption.

He did not stay on the adoption floor for long.

That rare mutation story is similar to the “werewolf cat” needing adoption.

Batman is only 3 years old and has many years left to receive all the cuddles and love he deserves from his new family: a mother and a little girl who loves superheroes.

Batman's condition is thought to be caused by a recessive gene that must be present in both parents of a cat and is completely normal, although rare.

The condition is thought to have been around since 1936 when a four-eared cat named Toots was discovered living in Ashtabula, Ohio.

Batman’s four ears are wild, but wait until you see the one-eyed, one-nostril cat a family adopted anyway.
