Few things can stop a scrolling session faster than a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel photo. These little dogs have a way of looking elegant, sweet, and completely impossible to ignore.

This collection brings together tiny puppies, polished adults, and a few especially charming moments that show why the breed has such a loyal following. Along the way, there is also a bit of controversy around breeding practices and the health concerns tied to some popular dog breeds.

For now, though, the focus is on the heart-stealing photos, and the final few picks may be the cutest of all.

There is some controversy surrounding this breed. King Charles Cavalier Spaniels are famed for their small heads, while English Bulldogs are known for their smushed, wrinkled muzzles, characteristics that their owners appreciate.

However, in an unusual move, Norway has outlawed the breeding of these canines, claiming that their cuteness is causing them pain. The Oslo District Court recently barred the breeding of the two purebreds, stating that it causes them distress and thus violates Norwegian animal protection laws.

The ruling, which has been praised by animal rights advocates and criticized by breeders, comes amid a growing discussion about whether the quest for cute pets has gone too far at the expense of the animals' well-being.

It also echoes the friend who snapped at a Redditor for getting a small dog, even with three larger breeds already at home, in this “she said that doesn’t matter” small-dog drama.

The Cavalier has a similar "birdy" personality to that of his larger Spaniel cousins. They are highly energetic dogs.

They enjoy playing fetch and flushing out birds. However, due to their chasing instincts, it's critical to keep them on a leash at all times so they don't chase a ball into the street or disturb the neighboring birds.

Still shocked by the $10,000 dog-breed blowback, read the vets’ take on mom getting blasted online for the controversial breed.
