23 Men Whose Hearts Were Transformed From Cold to Warm After Meeting These Adorable Pets
Some people love animals, while others aren't interested in getting pets. Since they are so adorable, it makes you wonder why their charm doesn't work on these individuals.
We can easily see that pet-keeping habits run in different families. This is often attributed to children mimicking their parents when they're not home.
However, a social science study suggests that this habit is related to genetics. There are people who tend to have a pet-keeping nature regardless of their upbringing.
These genes might be unique to humans; however, they are not widespread.
The research suggests that a number of societies or individuals in the past thrived because of their good relationships with animals.
Some recent studies have also discovered that love for pets is closely related to concern for the natural environment. In a way, pets help us reconnect with nature.
There are many communities on Reddit dedicated to sharing photos of pets. Two of them are the r/dadswhodidnotwantpets and r/aww subreddits.
The former is dedicated to dads and pet parents who initially claimed they didn't want pets. The latter is for posting anything cute.

As you can see, it's pretty common for dads to not want pets at first.
But they change their minds and eventually fall in love with the pets. It's probably why a community dedicated to dads eventually loving animals was created.
