Diego The Cat Was Missing For Two Years And Now Has Finally Reunited With His Owner
Almost everyone who has a pet knows how much they become a part of the family and how much everyone comes to love them. However, as part of the circle of life, pets pass away, run away, or, unfortunately, get lost, and it is absolutely heartbreaking.
Losing a pet is definitely a hard thing to go through, but having one run away is just as bad; you don't know where they are, if they're safe, or even if they're alive.
This was a reality for Iris, a vet tech and mom of two, when her cat Diego, her best friend for 12 years, went missing.
Meet Diego and his mom Iris!
Diego, a flame-point Siamese cat, had been her best friend for almost 12 years before he disappeared back in 2015. It is said that the indoor cat took the chance to escape out of a garage door when Iris' dad was visiting. Everyone thought he was gone for good, but Iris wouldn't let herself believe it.
Iris looked everywhere for Diego, posting signs to find him for over an entire year, hoping that someone somewhere might recognize him. Even though he had been gone for so long, Iris still refused to accept that he was gone forever. Even though everyone encouraged her to move on, Iris never gave up hope.
She said in an interview with Love Meow: "I was at work and in between patients—I'm a vet tech—something told me to look on the Animal Friends of the Valley website, which is odd for me."
And so she brought up the site, and what did she find? A very familiar face staring back at her.
"I saw his picture and left work as fast as I could."
When she arrived to view the cat, she knew that it was her Diego. Iris said: "The moment I saw him, I felt indescribable joy; I felt peace and was overwhelmed because I knew he wasn't dead. My intuition always told me he was alive."
It was him! After two years of being apart, the two were finally reunited!

Iris and her children were overjoyed to have their furry friend back in their lives, and Diego got to go home to the house he knew and the family that had loved and missed him.
"He was stressed at the shelter, but once we got him, he is totally back to his old self."

The story of Iris and Diego has inspired many people who also have missing pets. It's a reminder that animals are more resourceful and intelligent than we humans think, and that even though they go on adventures, there is always a chance they may come back. It shows that if you believe your pet might be alive, then you should never give up hope and never stop searching for them. You never know what might come around the corner!
