Adorable Dog Loses A Game Of Fetch Unexpectedly To A Fish
If there's one game that dogs truly enjoy playing, it's the simple concept of fetch. Most dogs today go crazy for the game, and they can even occupy themselves with a good ol' ball for a couple of hours, especially when there are rewards involved.
Dogs love being at the center of undivided attention, and they are never ones to reject praise. This is why they enjoy fetching balls so much; it involves both!
Not only that, the reason dogs always want to chase things lies in the history of their nature. In the past, dogs were trained to chase for hunting, and once they achieved their goal of catching their prey, they would return to their owner to show their catch.
Even today, dogs and other animals still have that urge for movement and action, as this is ingrained in their nature. While dogs are certainly not actual prey, they love the act of chasing as it allows them to stay true to their past instincts.
Dogs specifically prefer balls because they are easy to chase, easy to catch, easy to carry in their mouths, and they can spot them quickly. Wherever you may be, and wherever you may walk your dog for leisure, they will always love the thrill of playing catch, so be sure to pack some treats and rewards if you do!
That being said, there's this one dog who was playing a game of catch when the ball was caught by a surprising competitor: a fish. Check out the funny story below!
A family was just enjoying their day on a lake with their dog named C.C., who was having a game of fetch near the water.
Throughout their little vacation, C.C. thought the ball was all hers and hers alone. However, both the pup and her humans were surprised when an unlikely competitor showed up and beat her at her own game.

While C.C. was playing fetch, there was a moment when she was a bit too slow in reaching her toy after a single toss.
In that moment, another creature seized the ball, and it turned out to be a fish! The fish caught it in its mouth, and it was definitely a peculiar sight to see.
“It was definitely a shock to see,” Madeline Hyde, C.C.’s owner, said. “It took everyone a second to really process that the fish had caught the ball. It was a funny sight for sure!”
C.C. was also caught off guard by what happened. Check out her reaction:
The ball was saved by Madeline's dad, thankfully. The fish had clearly bitten off more than it could chew, so the ball didn't last in its mouth for long.
Not only did Madeline's dad save the ball, but he also saved the fish from choking just in time.
“The fish lived, thankfully!” Madeline exclaimed. “It took us a minute to get the ball out, and it was probably a bit stunned at first, but it swam away pretty quickly.”
Who knew that a fish would be C.C.'s competitor all along? It was definitely a cute and unexpected moment to experience, and we're glad that the fish was saved even though it had won the game of catch by chance!
