Rescued Tabby Kitten Was Given The Name "Steven Tyler" Due To A Facial Injury
A tiny rescue story in Richmond, Virginia, took an unexpected turn when a gray tabby kitten arrived at the shelter with a serious facial injury and no name of his own.
A concerned neighbor rushed the weeks-old stray to RACC after noticing his condition, and veterinarians quickly treated what was described as a degloved chin. As he heals, the shelter staff have been getting to know his personality, and one playful naming idea ended up sticking.
Now the little kitten is recovering fast, and his new identity is already getting attention. Read on.

Because the kitten's sutures resemble Steven Tyler's wide smile just a little bit, one of the staff members at the shelter suggested naming the cat after the rock star. However, the eight-week-old kitten named Steven Tyler lacks the showman demeanor of his famous namesake.
That name definitely gave the rescue story a little extra personality.
Veterinarians determined that the weeks-old kitten suffered a "degloved chin"

As a more recent addition to the RACC family, the diminutive grey tabby is quite reserved and shy.

When Mr. Tyler grows up to be an adult cat, he hopes to find a family who will spend time with him. Although he had a brief history in the urban wild, he would like to put that behind him.
Carpets would be excellent for this indoor-only kitten because he may need extra attention if his explorations lead him back to the ground.

Veterinarians had him stitched up quickly, and he's healing fast to get back on his feet

However, there shouldn't be any long-term concerns regarding Steven Tyler's injury. His stitches will soon dissolve, and he has already received approval to be adopted.

It’s absolutely wonderful to see stories like this, where animals like Mr. Tyler get a chance to live the life they deserve. We’re glad to know that his facial injury is now a thing of the past, and he can be like other kitties.
