These Heroes Refused To Abandon Stranded Cats In The Houston Flood
When Hurricane Harvey flooded parts of Houston, the rescue effort did not stop with people. Six abandoned cats were found in the wreckage, and their story quickly became a reminder that animals are often left behind when disaster hits.
Thanks to the Texas SPCA and Austin Pets Alive, those cats were pulled to safety along with thousands of other pets and animals from the storm zone. The photos of their rescue spread fast, and the response was pure relief.
Now the focus shifts to the rescuers, the fosters, and the long road still ahead for the animals who need help most.
1. Volunteers of Mercy
Residents and volunteers work together to rescue kitties in need.
2. Six Fluffy Beans
These six cats were found stranded in the Houston area before being safely transported to a shelter.
3. Safe at Last
Natural disasters create a very busy and eventful time for organizations like the local SPCA and Austin Pets Alive.
4. Kitty Love
Thousands of pets and animals have been displaced due to Hurricane Harvey and the resulting flooding.
And this is exactly what online communities and foster families do when shelters get packed and pets need homes fast.
5. Foster Homes are Hero Homes
Some foster parents waited in line for as long as two hours for the chance to help the displaced pets.
6. Gratitude
Both the local SPCA and Austin Pets Alive are very grateful for the support they are receiving from far and wide, as well as for the local support. This cat is being scanned for a microchip in hopes that he will be returned to his family.

Their work is not done yet, though. Austin Pets Alive also stated:
However, there is still a lot of work ahead of us. As we continue to care for the animals we have already saved, we must prepare for even more animals who will need us in the coming days.

Animal rescuers are some of the most selfless people in this world. They spend their time finding and rescuing animals that are left for dead in dire circumstances. After spending his whole life alone on the streets, Mason, the senior cat, had never experienced human (or cat) love before. Rescuers took the angry kitty and changed his life forever when he was introduced to kittens, and he behaved unlike anything they had ever expected him to.
