Bulgarian Artist Decorates Mugs by Handmaking Hyper-Realistic Cats and Dogs Out of Polymer Clay
Gabriela Dimitrova, an artist from Sofia, Bulgaria, has turned polymer clay into tiny pet portraits that look almost too real to be handmade. Her custom mugs, covered in lifelike cats, dogs, and other animals, have drawn attention from pet lovers who want something personal, playful, and a little over the top.
What makes her work stand out is the detail, from the fur texture to the expressions that seem to capture each animal’s personality. Customers send in photos, and Gabriela transforms them into custom pieces that have helped her build a large following and a long list of orders.
From dogs and cats to bunnies, pigs, pastries, and fruit, her creations keep getting more creative. The pet mugs are the stars, though, and it is easy to see why they keep going viral.

It is an oven-bake modeling material composed of polymers, resins, coloring agents, and fillers. Not a natural clay, it is man-made from a plastic, polyvinyl chloride (PVC) base."
"Polymer clay is used by artists and hobbyists ranging from children to professional artists and filmmakers. It stays continually soft and can be baked in a home oven, retaining its color and size. It is available in many colors, including metallics, glow-in-the-dark, and 'stone.' It can be used to simulate many materials: stone, semi-precious stones, porcelain, wood, and glass."
