For photographer and adventurer Allan Dixon, however, it's normal for him to take photos with exotic animals. He has essentially mastered the art of taking selfies with these creatures, leaving the rest of us in the dust with his animal selfie game.
Originally from Ireland, Dixon has traveled around the world, meeting and befriending various animals to the point where he can take selfies with them. From kangaroos and camels to sea lions and quokkas, he has captured many smiling selfies.
He started in 2015, and now he has quite the collection of light-hearted and fun snaps with all sorts of animals. However, the perfect animal selfie isn't always easy to achieve.
According to Dixon, it can take anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours of being in the animal's presence to capture that perfect selfie.
It's all worth it, though, because every smile and facial expression is genuine and highlights the commonalities between humans and animals. Here are some of his best photos.
