Shelter Dog Throws The Most Adorable Overnight Party After Escaping His Kennel
Gilligan, a shelter dog with a talent for mischief, turned one quiet night into an adorable mess after slipping out of his kennel. Once the staff had gone home, he made his move, headed straight for the toy pile, and spent the night entertaining himself in the cutest way possible.
By morning, the shelter was left with a hallway full of shredded squeakers and a mystery that only the security footage could solve. What happened next made Gilligan an instant favorite online, and it also showed just how much personality shelter dogs can have.
His little overnight party is hard to top.
Gilligan has been a good boy since he was just a puppy!
The Pennsylvania Bedford County Humane Society resident has even been made the main office greeter because he's simply that good of a boy.
However, Gilligan recently proved that he also happens to be a party animal who loves to have fun. Earlier this month, once everyone on the staff called it a night and went home, he figured out a way to open the kennel and easily slipped out. Then it was time to party!
Gilligan initially had to make sure the coast was clear, but once he was certain no one from the staff was there, he went for the toys, and the fun began!
“He spent a long time checking to see if anyone was in the building,” Joyce Ross, a volunteer at the shelter, told THE DODO. “Once he realized he was alone, he went straight for the toys. He pulled them out of the pile that we had just received from all of our Christmas donations and brought them into the hallway to play with and pull the squeakers out.”
Everyone was confused the next morning after they had absolutely no idea what could have caused this adorable chaos.
It looks like someone had a lot of fun last night.
The cleanup was almost as memorable as the party itself.
“Everyone at the shelter thought it was funny,” Ross said. “First, we went through all of the toys to check for any survivors that could possibly be played with again. He spared most of the ones without a squeaker because that is what he was after. Once we recovered some of the toys that could be reused, the cleanup was pretty easy.”
The staff even decided to share this adorable incident with the whole world, so they made an 'aftermath' video and posted it online. Everyone fell in love with Gill after the video went absolutely viral.
“What a great way to show off our shelter and demonstrate that fabulous dogs are waiting at the shelter,” Ross said. “We had a lady call and say she would like to buy Gilligan a toy every month for the rest of his life.”
