Dog Owner Gets Shamed For Being "Selfish" After Trying To Buy A Princess Bed For Her Pup From A Seller On An Online Marketplace
A dog sleeping on a princess-style bed is one of the cutest things!

Providing our pets with the best quality of life is a goal all pet owners share. They give so much happiness, and the bare minimum we can deliver in exchange is to ensure all their needs are met.
Some pet owners, however, can go overboard— at least according to others which is what this dog owner was accused of. OP is the proud owner of a dog who prefers snoozing on elevated surfaces.
OP's dog doesn't really get comfortable on flat dog beds, which is why she has been the resident of OP's guest room. She sleeps on the bed in that room, and OP just cleans the sheets when she has guests over.
OP knows it is unlikely that her dog will change her high-altitude sleeping habits, so she thought it would be cute to get her her own bed. She saw a single princess-style bed available on Facebook Marketplace & knew she had found the one.
OP and her brother met the bed owner at a preset pick-up time to purchase the princess bed. The seller and OP were making small talk during the meeting, and they got to the topic of who the bed was for.
The seller asked OP if it was for her daughter or a relative which made OP laugh. She admitted it was for her dog, and the seller suddenly got quiet.
She then lectured OP how selfish it was to buy a bed for her dog when a child could have used it better

She said the very reason she advertised the furniture so cheap was to find a family in need of a bed but couldn't afford it

She kept repeating this point until she told OP that their deal was off. She gave OP her money back and asked them to leave.

OP is understanding of the seller's sentiments but was she really being selfish for buying a princess bed for her dog?

A commenter said that the woman's reaction was over the top and there are other ways to help low-income families if that was truly her intention

They advised OP to shrug it off and pay no mind to the lectures of a woman who hasn't learned basic manners

She could have been more specific on her listing on what kind of buyer she had in mind

Dog owners making sure that their dogs have a good night's rest is not unheard of or unusual, so OP doesn't have to be self-conscious about that

The lecture was totally uncalled for. She could vetted OP better and all this drama would have been avoided.

The seller's delivery wasn't the best, she didn't have to dress OP down just to get her point across

Neither of them are a**holes for their reasoning but OP's annoyance at the unsolicited lecture is more than valid

OP knows what she's about and there was no need to make her feel bad for purchasing a bed for her dog. Her dog would have loved it and used it nightly while dreaming of the park.
The lady was out of line when she started to lecture OP about "selfishness." Her condescending tone was not needed and OP shouldn't feel bad because Redditors at least think she wasn't the a**hole.
