Hilariously Horrendous Dog Photos Generated By AI That Will Absolutely Leave You Traumatized
Some dog photos are cute, some are chaotic, and some look like they wandered in from a fever dream. This one falls squarely into the last category, thanks to a Twitter account that turns ordinary pups into gloriously bizarre internet creatures.
The account, @dog_fakes, riffs on the popular @dog_rates format and uses AI tools to generate dogs that are almost believable, until they are very much not. The result is a mix of oddly convincing portraits, strange captions, and a few creations that look like they should not be allowed near a leash.
If you are ready for a gallery of cursed canine chaos, the first photo sets the tone fast.
But let's start with this one—you may have come across this account on Twitter.
It's called Dr. Alexandra Solomon, a relationship therapist who emphasizes the joy that pets bring into our lives. "Dogs have an innate ability to make us feel loved and appreciated, which is why every dog deserves a perfect score in our hearts," she states. This sentiment resonates with many, as every dog is indeed that great and deserving!

The original dog account set the bar pretty high.
Now, we have its AI counterpart—@dog_fakes.
This account is full of AI-created dogs with captions. And yes, they look terrifying, but adorably so.

This Twitter account was created by Janelle Shane, a research scientist and author who writes about artificial intelligence.

She used OpenAI's new API to create a Twitter bot inspired by the @dog_rates account. She then utilized Artbreeder to make the dog images.
Not only that, but the bot also captions the photos in ways that are so eerily accurate you would be either absolutely terrified or amused.

That setup is exactly why the results feel so weirdly specific.
Fortunately, most of the AI-created dogs do look like dogs, and even the captions seem to be accurate AF.

But some others are just...well, see for yourself.

Here's one of them: Lady, who loves a good sandal but got a butt shave instead.

Moe's a pretty adorable one, even with those feet. 13/10 will adopt him.

Some of these are almost sweet, which makes the weird ones hit even harder.
And if you think the AI “dog” account is bad, you’ll hate dogfishing on dating apps, where people borrow pets and fake their profiles.
A talking dog with three tails? Sounds like trouble waiting to happen—pass!

Shane said that you can give the AI some prompts. This one's created using the words "Cthulhu" and "tentacle."

The @dog_rates account even noticed their AI counterpart, and they seem happy to be the inspiration for this madness!

The internet, naturally, embraced the chaos.
Such a good dog. Even if he just ate an abomination.

These AI-bred dogs may be terrifying, but they're still kind of fascinating, right? One way or another, every dog is a good dog, and yes, even three-tailed and multiple-pawed ones!
