Photographer Shares Pictures Of Wild Foxes And Landscapes While Exploring The Wonderful World Of Japan
Hokkaido’s wild landscapes have a way of stealing the spotlight, and Hiroki Inoue knows exactly how to frame them. The Sapporo-born photographer, now based in Higashikawa, has built a portfolio around the quiet, fleeting moments between animals and their surroundings.
His work often blends wildlife and scenery, with foxes becoming one of his favorite subjects. One of his best-known images, titled "Wild Abandon," even earned a spot as National Geographic’s Photograph of the Day, bringing fresh attention to his snowy fox scenes.
Inoue’s latest images keep that same magic going, with red foxes, winter light, and Hokkaido’s wide-open beauty all in view. Read on.

When asked about his tips and tricks for capturing such stunning shots, he said he’s always grateful to have encountered wild animals, as their beauty and intelligence are beyond imagination. Inoue doesn’t wish to capture mere evidence photographs but rather thoughtful images, and "to capture thoughtful images, the most important thing is to appreciate wildlife and to be more patient."
